Over the years I have done a few manger scenes, but, in all honesty, I believe this one is the finest to date. It shows Mary and child surrounded by sheep, doves, and a donkey. In attendance at the moment is a young sheppard. The magical scene takes up the entire face of the cover, and its impact is tremendous.

Following the color dictates of the period from which the artwork on the new stamp originated, I decided that very strong and vivid colors were called for on my cachet. The result is fantastic, and the manger scene comes alive with dramatic color all achieved by individual hand painting.

My Christmas covers are always well received because, in addition to Collins collectors, there is a strong and growing group of topical specialists. And, of course, they seek out each of my Collins Christmas cachets.
