Dinosaurs
Camptosaurus & Camarasaurus
Important Notice
An exciting Collins set of nine vibrant covers containing all 15 of the new Dinosaur stamps. This is an experimental offering which will enable collectors to complete a Collins set over a relatively short time without usual long delays or monthly payments. An early sell-out is anticipated.
World of the Dinosaurs
Rather than stretch this set out over an extended period with monthly payments, I've decided to try offering it in the regular ordering procedure. Starting with these two Dinosaur covers, I'll be offering the full set one or two items at a time until complete. The cachets are superb and the watercolors bring the prehistoric creatures and their environments "alive" in vivid detail. Don't miss this opportunity to have the Collins "World of the Dinosaurs" set in your collection. Start with these two and then add one or two as offered. As time goes on, you'll be very happy to have them in your FDC holdings. Many other cachetmakers skip the sets and, as a result, very few handpainted ones exist. This is very good news for Collins collectors because they end up with highly sought items with excellent market potential. I think you'll like very much completing this set quickly over the next few months, and I know you'll love the cachets. I expect a fast sell-out, but once you start, you are guaranteed the full set of nine. Acquire them now at original prices. The Collins FDCs for "The World of the Dinosaurs."
Collins Cover Announcement
The World Of Dinosaurse
Ceratosaurus and Opisthias Gamarasaurtis and Camptosaurus
Hobby history will, of course, be the ultimate judge, but from what I can now determine, my nine-cover Dinosaur set featuring all fifteen of the new stamps was the best one produced. Lots of research went into the designs to achieve scientific accuracy, and many, many hours went into the hand painting to make each and every watercolored cachet something special. As time goes on and these covers become known and catalogued, you certainly will be glad you have them in your collection.
Collins subscribers will now have this full set on order via their paid invoices. One of the great benefits of a Collins subscription (besides the ten percent savings) is the security of knowing that you are guaranteed each of my new covers as they are offered. New subscribers should check their pink invoice copies to see which dinosaurs they missed and order those as back issues.
Non-subscribers need to be especially alert in this case. Unlike subscribers who have their new Collins cachets reserved and held for them, you must order on a first-come, first-served basis. Always, on quick sell-outs, some collectors are disappointed, so I urge you to check the list at the bottom and order now any of the dinosaurs that you may have missed. Every Collins collector will want to have a full set of nine cachets for this fascinating and dynamic series.
One more discussion point about this set should be made. I tried an experiment by offering the dinosaurs in my traditional method of offering my new covers. In other words, I did not do them with monthly payments over a longer period of time as I usually do with the big sets.
Ceratosaurus was a carnivorous theropod dinosaur. It had a horn on its nose and another over its eyes. In my hand-painted cachet it is threatening an opisthias which was a small sphenodont lizard. The confrontation of attacker and prey provides a high degree of drama for this cachet art. As the "01" cover in the set, it will probably be placed first in your album for this series and, as such, will certainly capture the viewer's attention and fuel anticipation for the remaining cachets.
In the other cover, a plant-eating camptosaunis stands by the edge of a pond. The serene mealtime of this solitary omithischian dinosaur has been interrupted by an approaching camarasaurus. Shown in the foreground, this large sauropod does not seem overly interested in the concerned camptosaurus, and both creatures will probably go their separate ways without incident. As with the other cover being offered today, this one with hand-painted cachet brings to life in rich and detailed color a time when large and ferocious dinosaurs roamed the earth.
When a set reaches completion, it is with mixed emotion on my part. Of course, the dominant feeling is one of accomplishment that another Collins set is "out there" in the hobby. There is also a small but real sadness (quickly overcome by the everpresent prospect of new cachet challenges) in leaving a project that you have worked with for a long period of time. Most hand-painted cachetmakers don't even attempt the sets, so I'm always gratified that my collectors sincerely appreciate my efforts.
The Collins Dinosaurs are now in existence, and again I urge you to make sure you have all nine complete at original offering price. They provide a cachetmaker's glimpse at a time when prehistoric beasts large and small ruled supreme. The World of Dinosaurs.
