Antillean Euphonia

This very colorful tropical bird is found in the United States commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It is usually found in the thick and lush mountain forests of Luquillo. My hand-painted cachet captures in vivid watercolors the beautiful hues of this bird which include tangerine orange on the chest and back, lemon yellow on the throat, and a dazzling Caribbean blue on the head. Complementing this eye-catching bird is a lovely tropical flower. The impressive heliconia psittacorum provides a fitting perch for the euphonia.

The new stamp is canceled at Ponce, Puerto Rico. Again, I'm happy to report that the cachet subject matter of tropical birds and tropical flowers is one that is just perfect for watercolors. The antillean euphonia is a collecting treat. Item #F2901 - $12.25.
