Tropical Birds

Cardinal Honeyeater

Collins Cover Announcement

Tropical Birds

Cardinal Honeyeater

This beautiful bird was once found on Guam but is now extinct on that island. It can still be found in American Samoa. It has very distinctive coloring with its upper body being a crimson red and its lower body a jet black. A small black area also extends from the bill to the eye which it surrounds. The bill is unusually long for a small bird and slightly curved.

Adding to the appeal of this hand painted cachet is the perch on a stem of still budding tropical flowers. To the left, five of the buds have fully blossomed. This is the third cover in my Tropical Birds set to be announced - with one to go. The lovely red and black Cardinal Honeyeater. Item #F2904 - $12.25.
