Klondike Gold Rush - Centennial
Alaskan Malamute Sled Dogs Cachet
Collins Cover Announcement
Klondike Gold Rush
Alaskan Malamute
Gold was discovered in 1896 in a tributary of the Klondike River. A great migration of fortune seekers followed. Most followed a route north through Skagway, but some took a water route along Alaska's coast heading north through Nome.
Featured on my cachet are the favorite sled dogs of many - the Alaskan Malamute. These strong and hardy dogs pulled the sleds that took men and supplies north to the gold fields. This cover must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The dogs come to life in realistic watercolors, and the hand painting captures the Klondike as seen through the eyes of the prospectors who traveled there. Item #L2901 - $12.25.
