Lot 27 M2811 — Teddy Bears from Celebrate the Century 1900's — 2/3/98
This very cute cover has an individual Teddy Bear from the huge U.S.P.S. stamp project which celebrated the ten decades from the 1900s through the 1990s. As mentioned above, the stamps that were issued over a ten-year period represented People and Events, Arts and Entertainment, Lifestyles, Sports, Politics, and Science and Technology from the massive Celebrate the Century celebration. All of the stamps are wonderful. This one pictures an antique brown "Teddy" Bear.
My cachet shows two of the Teddies — one a baby bear in a vintage carriage and the other an adult Teddy wearing a scarf and glasses. Also pictured are "Teddy Bear" blocks and a ball. Absolutely adorable and certainly representative of children's toys from the early 1900s. This would make a great companion cover to the previous lot as this now-familiar American toy derived its name "Teddy" from President Theodore Roosevelt!
