Lot 24 P2801 and P2805 — Flowering Trees — (two FDCs) — 3-19-98

This issue gave me a fine opportunity to combine the beautiful blossoms of some of America's most spectacular flowering trees with colorful songbirds. The resulting cachets exceeded my expectations. The Pacific Dogwood tree (P2805) has large flowers and leaves that provide a perfect setting for the dazzling Goldfinch, which is distinguished by its contrasting feathers of midnight black and golden yellow. Perched on a branch of the Southern Magnolia tree (P2801) is a multi-hued Painted Bunting, whose habitat is the southern U.S. states, Mexico, and Central America. The magnolia tree produces creamy white flowers with a rich fragrance.
