ASTRONAUT JOHN GLENN

$11. 75 High Value Space Shuttle Handpainted FDC

This magnificent cover which I am announcing today is a marvelous philatelic tribute to John Glenn from his time as one of America's original seven astronauts to last year when he became the oldest person to travel in space. It is a splendid Collins FDC and will become a much sought-after item within our hobby for several reasons.

The impressive handpainted cachet rises to the occasion and is one you must see for yourself It portrays both the young and old Glenn and, in artistic expression, clearly demonstrates the vision that he has had all these years about our role in space travel and exploration. I believe that you will definitely consider this cachet to be one of the very best in your entire collection.

Adding to the luster and appeal of this item is its status of "First Day Cover" as opposed to being an event cover. I patiently waited for the high-value $1 1.75 Space Shuttle stamp for my tribute to Astronaut Glenn. With a super Collins cachet, it will be an eye-catching addition to your collection now and, down the road, will be highly sought by new Collins and space topical collectors. Its collectibility potential in years ahead is not in doubt, especially with the new wave of interest in Collins cachets that my forthcoming book will generate.

It is my expectation that, as is the case with most of my more celebrated covers, this one will sell out quickly. All orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid disappointment, please place your order right away. It is a phenomenal Collins cover, and you won't want to miss it.

Winter 2023 Mail Sale

Lot 16 A3001 - $11.75 High-Value Express Mail — "Piggyback" Shuttle stamp/John Glenn cachet — 11-19-98

American hero John Glenn was a Marine Corps pilot, engineer, astronaut, businessman, and politician. This dynamic hand painted cachet pays tribute to an accomplished patriot. He was the third American in space and the first to orbit the earth, circling it three times in 1962. A nice portrait in spacesuit is a right. He served as a United States senator from 1974 to 1999 and is pictured in this role at the left. In the center, the rocket blasts off on his 1962 mission. The stamp has the first day of issue bullseye postmark. This is the first time for this cover in one of my mail sales. A wonderful Americana/space topical Collins.
