My hand painted cachet is an Americana happening as it portrays James Cagney playing George M. Cohan in the 1942 classical movie musical Yankee Doodle Dandy. Cagney won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the legendary showman of vaudeville fame. The Public Enemy, Angels with Dirty Faces, and Ragtime were three more of the sixty-plus films in which he starred.

James Cagney was described as intense, energetic, and charming. Because of the roles that came his way, he quickly became Hollywood's favorite bad guy. The new stamp honoring him was issued one hundred years after his birth in 1899.
