America's Volunteers

Although many collectors thought that this new stamp paid tribute only to those who had served in the Armed Forces, it was, in fact, intended to honor a wide variety of citizen volunteers. The safety and welfare of our families, neighbors, communities, and country is, to a large degree, entrusted to those who serve in many volunteer capacities.

Since I have not had too many opportunities to create cachets for the fire-fighting fraternity, I decided to use this chance. My hand painted cachet shows a fireman at the back of his truck. He is young, as are many, but the confident look is apparent. It is a solid design, and I believe that, once I'm sold out, this cover will be actively sought on the open market.

I'm pleased to present a First Day Cover that pays tribute to all of America's volunteers but, in particular, to our country's community firemen. Item #G3101 - $12.25.
