Collins Cover Announcement
Daffy Duck
Daffy first appeared in 1937 opposite Porky Pig in a cartoon entitled "Porky's Duck Hunt." It is interesting to note that these two characters were the only two major Warner Brothers cartoon stars to be established before Bugs Bunny.
In this vibrant hand painted cachet, the usually hyperactive Daffy Duck is quietly standing by his mailbox contemplating the opening day of the duck hunting season. Once again, as I did for the Bugs Bunny and Tweety and Sylvester issues, I use two stamps in the cover design. One is postmarked on the day of issue. The second, in mint condition, is incorporated into the actual cachet design. It's different and very appealing for this subject matter.
One other feature of this painted cachet must also be mentioned. The actual stamps are done in very bright and bold colors. Extending this to the cachet, the same bright and vivid watercolors make this a stand-out First Day Cover. It is quite different from the normal Collins "look" and one you will immensely enjoy having in your collection.
As Daffy eyes with disdain the young hunter on the hill, you can almost hear him admonishing the boy with his world famous signature line - "You're dethpicable." I'm proud to offer a cartoon FDC that will become a fine sought-after collectible. The unflappable Daffy Duck. Item #P3001 - $12.75.
