Benjamin Franklin
Diplomat & Statesman
Cover Announcement
Ben was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and played an important role as one of our first notable statesmen and diplomats. Franklin became a national hero when he served several colonies as a diplomatic agent in London before the Revolution. He endeavored to have the Parliament of Great Britain repeal the unpopular and even hated Stamp Act.
Later. he served as an American liaison to France and soon was widely admired by the French people for his diplomatic
accomplishments and skiils. He was a major figure in the development of positive Franco-American relations, and his
efforts proved vital for the American Revolution in securing a firm ally and shipments of needed munitions.
Ben delighted in wearing a fur cap when visiting with French Government officials and at State social functions. My
individually hand painted cachets depict this portrait as he appeared in these earliest days of American diplomacy. Collins V5504 at $15.00.
