Collins Cover Announcement 

ALDEN PARTRIDGE

From a personal perspective, I like the cachet layout very much on this February 1985 FDC. On the right side of the cover, Partridge is shown in full dress uniform. He is brightly attired in blue tunic with gold shoulder epaulets, blue head piece, tan trousers and a red belt. A saber in scabbard completes the outfit and adds the finishing touch to a traditional rendering of a historical military officer. The upper left and center of the cover are taken up by a large crimson banner with trailing side pennants. Nestled in this field of red is an oval painting of West Point on the banks of the Hudson River. Alden Partridge was commander at the Academy. The military figure and banner/ West Point oval make this hand-painted cover very attractive.

A pair of the eleven-cent stamps is canceled at Norwich University in Vermont. Item #F901 - $7.00
