Collins Cover Announcement

KOREAN WAR VETERANS

The First Day cancel on this COLLINS is one of the best I've ever been able to obtain. After picking up the stamps in Washington, D.C., it was off to Indiana and the ultimate destination of "Battle Ground". This unofficial First Day cancel done on actual Day of Issue only by COLLINS provides a collector with a very desirable cover.

To complement the Battle Ground cancellation, I offer a bold and full sweeping hand-painted cachet. Surrounding a brightly colored map of Korea, various land, sea and air forces are depicted. To the upper right are two naval vessels and to the upper left - two jets of the Air Force. An Army helicopter and tank are also represented. Most prominent, however, is a squad of infantrymen manning their machine gun.

This is quite an FDC. The "entire" full cover hand-painted cachet and the Battle Ground, Indiana cancel combine to make this a legitimate candidate for the best FDC produced for this Korean Vets issue. Item #H1001 - $7.50

Lot 11 H1001 — Korean War Veterans — 7/26/85

The hand painted cachet is very dramatic. A map of Korea is surrounded by naval ships, sabre jets, a helicopter, a tank, and GI's manning an anti-aircraft gun. After buying the stamps in Washington, DC on day of issue, it was off to Battle Ground, Indiana for a perfect Collins exclusive first day postmark. A great military cover and hard to find.

Lot 20 H1001 — Korean War Vets (7-26-85)

This is a dynamic map cachet showing the area of the Korean War. To the left is a pair of sabre jets that were first used in that conflict. To the lower left an anti-aircraft gun is in action. To the right going down the coast are two naval ships, a helicopter and a tank. The stamp has a magenta first day of issue cancel from Battle Ground, Indiana. A very distinctive and eye-catching cover honoring our Korean vets.
