Christmas

Genoa Madonna by Luca Della Robbia

Collins Cover Announcement

CHRISTMAS – 1985

The offering of these two covers completes the 1985 stamp issues in regard to COLLINS Covers. Several of the 85's are already sold out. I will be sending to you shortly a list of all available covers from 1985 on.

MADONNA AND CHILD

The "entire" cachet depicts a Holy Land city -- over which two angels watch from the heavens. Above the angels, the North Star glistens high in the sky. A lone sheep -- symbol of peace -- wanders toward a palm lined path at the city's gate. A single stamp has the official "First Day of Issue" cancel from Detroit. A very pleasing FDC. Item #R1001 - $7.00.

POINSETTIA

This COLLINS Christmas cover turned out especially nice, and I do recommend it -- a very festive and happy holidays appearance. Stretching across the cover is an evergreen bough decorated with a red ribbon. A large golden bell adorns one tip of the bough while the opposite end finds a pair of pine cones. At the center, a colorful candle burns with its orange flame creating a warm halo effect. To the left, the crimson yuletime holly berries are bright against the pointed green leaves, and to the upper right, a poinsettia flower appears as the traditional Christmas plant. At lower center, the colorful poinsettia stamp has a bullseye cancel from Nazareth, Michigan. This hand-painted cover truly captures the mood of Christmas and I'm delighted to offer it. Item #S1001 $7.00.
