Pacific Coast Rain Forest

HARLEQUIN DUCK

To bring this dramatic ten-cover nature set to a fitting conclusion, I am pleased to present a delightful hand painted cachet featuring the beautifully marked harlequin duck. The handsome male is in the foreground and is seen carefully preening his mahogany red, sea blue, and snow white plumage. Close by, the lovely female, with forest brown feathers and distinctive white patches on her head, attentively watches her three ducklings. Two of the downy babies stick close to Mom while an adventurous youngster decides to swim toward Dad. This harlequin family is a First Day Cover that will be appreciated by all - but especially those who enjoy wildlife and, in particular, ducks. As with all of my covers, you must experience this water-colored cachet firsthand in order to appreciate its true beauty.

This cover will complete the Pacific Coast Rain Forest set of ten, and it has been a fun project. I am now looking forward to and, in fact, have already begun working on the American Prairie wildlife series. It will be a new approach for me, and, when I announce it, I think you will like the cachet format very much. For now, the sun sets on my Rain Forest set with the final cover. In future years, they will be sought out within the hobby, so make sure you have all of them now.
