Flag stamps are always popular with collectors, and I devoted this cover to an American institution that is slowly fading from our rural landscape — the family farm. It is early morning, and the geese and chickens are being fed. Mother hen and her brood of chicks descend the ramp from the chicken house to join a gaggle of geese already having their breakfast. On a nearby haystack, the proud rooster stands by a pitchfork to welcome a new day with his familiar crowing.

The hand painted cachet brings the scene to life, and you'll find many details that add much to the cover. Morning glories sprout tall by the henhouse. A horse weather vane sits atop the barn, and an old stone foundation supports it. A spinning windmill brings to the surface the water so vital to the farm's operation.
