"Number One" Cachets by Scott Collins

First, let me correct an error in the write-up for the X3201 cover. In the last sentence of paragraph one, I refer to the "four Stampin' the Future Space FDCs." Actually, I meant to say the four Stampin the Future Space stamps. There are only two cachets — each one having two of the new stamps. With that said, let me voice an opinion on the importance of having these two covers in your collection. There is a whole body of First Day Cover collectors out there who specialize in "first cachets." That means they will be seeking out these covers, as will future Collins collectors. With the family linkage, I think Scott's two first cachets are ones that you definitely would want to acquire now before I sell out. As always, I reserve the right to reduce multiple orders should it be necessary.

This hand painted cachet features an alien standing on the moon in front of the American flag. At the right, a rocket blasts off with a gantry standing nearby. In the sky, a formation of three stars whiz by. When combined with the two stamps, this is a very colorful and uplifting cachet created in total by children's art. If by any chance, you missed ordering the X3201 (Smiling Star cachet — still available at $12.50), be sure to pick it up now. These are feel-good covers and will certainly become key collectibles in the Collins cachets story.

Finally, let me say to each of you how proud Linda and I are of Scotty. He worked hard for many sessions with Christy or myself offering encouragement. From his artistic work, Ellen (JED) and I decided what to include in the cachet designs, and she edited it to form the two scenes. Every bit of the art came from Scott, and I have saved his original paintings and drawings so that in future years he will have it and, I hope, treasure it as something very special from his childhood years with his grandparents.With a great deal of love, I am pleased to present the second of Scott's number one cachets.
