In a move which I believe is long overdue, the Postal Service has decided to issue a pane of twenty different stamps honoring legendary players of our national pastime. The cover I did honoring Cal Ripken, Jr., when he broke the record for playing in consecutive games, immediately became a $100-plus cover and will move higher because they are so tough to find. My "first World Series" cover in the Celebrate the Century set recently was offered by a major First Day Cover auction house. Amazingly, this Collins realized one hundred and twenty-six dollars! All of the above just reflects the popularity and desirability of baseball collectibles - especially when produced with a Collins hand painted cachet.
