Lot 28 P3201 — Legends of Baseball — (Subscriber-Only Limited Edition) — 7/6/2000

Back in 2000, I decided to do a special cover just for my subscribers (those getting each of my new FDCs) at that time. This cover is not part of my Legends of Baseball set (03201 to 03220). It is an amazing Collins exclusive with four of the greatest baseball players of all time being together on one first day cover. To the right side of the envelope are the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Legends stamps. To the left are the Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente stamps. The hand painted cachet is in the center of the envelope and is broken down into four separate scenes:

Jackie's iconic stealing of home; Roberto robbing Willie Mays of a homer with a leaping catch; Babe hitting his legendary 60th home run; a smiling portrait of Lou — the Iron Horse. It's an

extraordinary Collins cachet and is destined to become one of the most sought-after baseball covers in the hobby. It will almost never appear for sale because it was made just for subscribers (with no extras available), and they certainly will be keeping it in their collections
