This new stamp has a nice design format which makes it very interesting. A red rose is superimposed upon the script of a handwritten letter from John Adams (who in 1797 was to become our second president) to Abigail Smith. The letter was dated April 20, 1763 and stresses the profound and enduring nature of words and sentiment committed to writing. Abigail and John wed in 1764 and were married for 54 years.

My hand painted cachet shows a scene which -many of us have experienced. A young military man pens a love letter on the right, and his sweetheart reads his words with delightful emotion on the left. A symbolic rose represents the miles that separate the young lovers. This is a "feel good" First Day Cover, and I'm happy to offer it. Item #H3301 - $12.25.
