Legends of Hollywood

Lucille Ball - Actress, Comedienne, and Producer

Cover Announcement

The I Love Lucy series was one of the zaniest and most popular shows in television history. Starring movie actress Lucille Ball and her real-life Cuban-born bandleader husband, Desi Arnaz, it was an ongoing spoof of married life seen through the hilarious antics of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, as well as their neighbors and friends - Ethel and Fred Mertz. At the end of its first six months on the air, I Love

Lucy had displaced Milton Berle and Arthur Godfrey from their top ratings. Fifty million faithful viewers would tune in on Monday nights as TV history was being made.

My hand painted cachet features Lucy in her famous "Vitameatavegamin" routine. This show was recently voted first in TV Guide's fan survey of the fifty funniest episodes. In it, she is doing a commercial in which she is supposed to convey how good the tonic tastes, while it actually is horrible. The facial expressions and body-language antics are truly vintage Luey. With watercolors bringing this magical moment in television history to life, you will love Lucy all over again as you add this special Collins First Day Cover to your collection.

Lucille Desiree Ball was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, NY. In addition to I Love Lucy, later TV series included The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy, and Life with Lucy. She won four Emmy Awards, appeared in 70 movies, and was one of the first inductees into the Television Hall of Fame in 1984. I am pleased to offer this year's 'l,egends of Hollywood" First Day Cover - comedienne extraordinaire. Lucille Ball - Collins #P3401 - $12.25.
