Carnivorous Plants
English Sundew
Cover Announcement
This small plant uses its sticky leaves to trap insects. It is found in mossy bogs across northern areas of the United States as well as along the West Coast as far south as Catifornia. The leaves have tentacle-like projections that end with glands that secrete a sticky substance. Insects are attracted by odor and color, and after getting stuck their struggle to escape stimulates the tentacles to slowly enelose the victim.
My hand painted cachet shows the leaves fully opened with an insect having just landed on one of them. The colors and composition are most interesting on this second FDC in the Carnivorous plants series to be offered. The English Sundew. Collins #R3403 - $12.25.
