Irving Berlin - Composer

Easter Parade

Collins Cover Announcement

Irving Berlin

Easter Parade

Since no stamps are issued for the Easter holiday, this is the first cachet I've done on that subject. Accordingly, it will definitely be one that'll be sought very actively once I'm sold out, so don't miss acquiring it for your collection. You might even consider an extra.

The Berlins were very tolerant of all religions. Irving was Jewish, and Ellin was Catholic and, as an unusual religious compromise, they agreed to raise their children as Protestants. It's probably not a coincidence that two of his biggest song hits are about the secular observance of Christmas and Easter. White Christmas (H3601 - $12.25) was recently offered.

The hand painted cachet for this liDC is stunning. A young lady joins the Easter Parade, and she is "In her Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it." Just lovely. Completing the cover are bunnies, brightly colored eggs, a baby chick, and an abundance of beautiful Easter flowers.

When asked about Irving Berlin's place in American music, fellow composer Jerome Kern said, "Irving Berlin is American music." Faster Parade. Collins #H3602 - $12.25.
