Eid

Marks the end of fasting in Ramadan

Collins Cover Announcement

EJD

This stamp pays tribute to the social, educational, and business contributions that the seven million U.S. Muslims make to our country. The phrase "EID MUBARAK" is featured in Islamic calligraphy on the stamp. It translates as "May your religious holiday be blessed."

In an April 7, 2003 editorial by Wayne L. Youngblood, editor of Stamp Collector, an informed opinion is set forth. Relating the atrocities of recent years, Wayne makes the point that they are the work of terrorist extremists and not members of the Muslim faith in general. He points out that atrocities have been committed by people of all major faiths and that hate should not be blindly directed at "friends and neighbors." To that I say let this stamp and First Day Cover be dedicated to peace and goodwill to those around the world who would work for the harmony of mankind. Eli). Collins #K3601 - $12.25.
