Firemen Atop World Trade Center Rubble

Cover Announcement

This stamp was unveiled on March 11, 2002 exactly six months after the terrorist attacks. At that ceremony, then Postmaster General John Potter spoke the following words.

"The Postal Service is proud to honor the men and women who gave their all in the rescue efforts following the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Sadly, many of these true American heroes paid the ultimate sacrifice. We hope this stamp will be a lasting tribute to them and a

testimony to the spirit and resolve of our great country."

My individuaily hand painted cachet shows a New York City fireman responding to the attack on the World Trade Center. Smoke billows from one of the Twin Towers. The stamp is canceled on the first day of issue with the New York, New York bullseye postmark.

Now available is a lasting philatelic cachet tribute to the brave heroes. Collins number - to be assigned. $16.50.
