Lot 20 Lot 20 G3701 — First Flight — Wright Brothers 

This stamp was issued in 2003 to celebrate the 100'h Anniversary of the first manned flight of an airplane in 1903. It is postmarked on day of issue at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina — site of that historic first flight. Of special philatelic note is the very fine lettering used in the cancel. My hand painted cachet features Orville and Wilbur as well as their plane. A great aviation Collins.

This stamp pictures the plane that made history in 1903, and it has the small bullseye first day postmark from Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, where it all happened. My hand painted cachet features Orville and Wilbur as well as their famous plane. The colors, predominantly soft blues, are very soothing, making this is a wonderful aviation and American history cover. In the illustration, their faces appear pale, but on the cover they are flesh color.
