Lot 27 G1401 — 1988 Federal Duck Stamp — Snow Goose — 7-1-88

This cover really has a lot going for it. The first day postmark is a pictorial and cancels the duck stamp plus the two stamps added for the postal requirement — two jays and a folk-art decoy. A light blue envelope was used so that the white snow geese would stand out. The hand painted cachet shows a small flock of five birds. As with all of my duck covers, this one was only produced for collectors who pre-ordered, making it an immediate sell out. An opportunity.

Lot 20 R3806 — The Lion King — Subscriber-only Cachet Variety — 6/23/04

This cachet shows Simba, the Lion King, and his mate Nala as fully grown adults. It is a placid jungle setting as they gaze wistfully into each other's eyes. Since this edition was made just for subscribers, it rarely becomes available. It also was the cover on which I chose to add the selvage square showing Tinkerbell and tied it to the cover with the day of issue bullseye postmark that also cancels the Lion King stamp.

Lot 31 R3806 — The Lion King (Subscriber-only limited edition) — 6-23-04

My regular cachet for this issue showed Simba as a young cub playing on the African plain with his friends Zazu the hornbill, Pumbaa the warthog, and Timon the meerkat. This very limitededition cachet, done just for subscribers, depicts him as a full-maned adult Simba on his way to becoming the King of the Jungle. In addition to the Lion King stamp, I added an additional Disney character (Tinker Bell) from the sheet selvage and had it tied to the envelope with the first day postmark.
