Collins Cover Announcement
Halloween
Crops of the Americas
It's hard to believe, but this is the very first cachet I've ever produced with a Halloween theme. With the popularity of this special night when ghosts and goblins and all types of young costumed characters roam the neighborhoods of America, it's about time a Collins Halloween cover made an appearance.
The hand painted cachet is a dandy. A witch and devil, carrying Jack-o-lantern containers for their "trick or treat" goodies, proceed to the next house. Leaves swirl downward in the night air, signifying that the barren days of winter are approaching . In the foreground is a beautiful display of colorful gourds, including a large pumpkin, and I think you'll love the way the cachet is coordinated with the new stamp. Adding to that autumn harvest-time feeling is the woven basket cornucopia and the seasonal leaves visible under the vegetables.
Sometimes a cover captures the attention of many in the hobby, and I think that may be the case with this cachet. There is absolutely no doubt that Halloween has become extremely popular, and collectibles with that theme seem to do well. Since this is the very first Halloween Collins FDC, I think it will be actively sought by many collectors in the years ahead — especially since it has a very nice design, and the watercolors are wonderful. Don't miss it. I'm happy to offer this Halloween "treat" for your collection. Gourds — Collins #D5001 —$13.25.
