Christmas Religious

Madonna and Child with Bird by Ignacio Chacon

Collins Cover Announcement

Christmas Religious — 2006

A small country church is the subject of the cachet for this year's rendition. Lights from inside reflect a warm glow through the windows, and wreaths on the double doors proclaim the yuletide season. The evening scene is one of quiet beauty and tranquility. An unseen moon casts its soft illumination over the winter wonderland and the serene house of worship. Adding much visual interest is a great homed owl perched in a pine tree in the foreground of the hand painted cachet.

The traditional stamp shows a painting attributed to Ignacio Chacon whose works date from the mid-1700s. It is entitled "Madonna and Child with Bird" so I thought that for my cachet I would present an Americana church with bird - in this case, a wise old owl. The watercolors make this a miniature work of art, and it truly turned out to be a lovely First Day Cover. Christmas Religious 2006. Collins #F4201 - $13.25.
