Wilbur

This "down-on-the-farm" hand painted cachet will complete the regular sequence for this issue of new stamps. Still coming up soon is one very special limited-edition Collins First Day Cover for "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" stamp, but for now, I won't go into the details of that one.

This new stamp has a frolicking Wilbur kicking up his heels, and it is tied to the envelope with the terrific open-storybook pictorial First Day postmark. My individually watercolored cachet depicts a typical pig on a typical family farm. The barn and silo are in the background, and golden sunflowers provide a splash of bright color in the right foreground. It's a very nice Americana scene and a nice way to end this series of "real animal" cachets to complement the fictional storybook animals on the stamps. Collector reaction to them has been great, and I thank you for the many favorable comments. Do use the checklist at the bottom of the page to make sure that you have (or have on order) the other seven previously announced.

I'm pleased to offer the final cover in this appealing series — Wilbur. Collins #N4002 — $13.25.
