Year of the Rooster

A proud and colorful rooster struts his stuff in the next cover of my 2006 Lunar New Year set. As has been an ongoing cachet theme for many of the First Day Covers in this series, Oriental flowers are added to present a soft touch to contrast with the bold depiction of the animals being presented. I think that this hand painted cachet brings together the three elements of the illustration in great harmony: the large character that represents the word rooster, the lovely flowers, and the proud bird itself The watercolors bring all three of the drawing components together in a really nice blending of artistic expression. I know you'll enjoy adding this one to your collection. The Year of the Rooster — Collins #R4010 — $13.25.
