Year of the Tiger

Collins Cover Announcement

2006 Lunar New Year Stamps

Set of 12 "Close-up" Hand Painted Cachets

The Lunar New Year stamps have proven to be one of the most popular series of the past ten years. Starting now, make sure that you obtain each of these individually watercolored animal portraits.

Two main components will combine to make this set a stand-out. First, my cachet approach will be to design an appealing close-up rendition of each featured animal. The artistic quality of each and every design will be superb. Each one will be brought to life by the natural look of individual hand painting that watercolors can achieve. Make no mistake — you will love these dramatic up-close cachets. The second feature will be the large, written character that refers to the subject species. Each of these will be painted in a different vibrant color that will really add to the visual appeal from both an individual cover and set-as-a-whole basis.

As is my usual practice with a large set, I will be offering this series at one per month. This allows the time required for the individual hand painting and also makes them affordable for almost every hobby budget. The illustrations speak for themselves, and I can assure you that the actual cachets that are individually done in watercolors are truly beautiful renditions that you have to see to appreciate. This set may be spoken for quickly, so please order in a timely manner to avoid missing out. The first one will be the "Year of the Tiger" (Collins #R4003), and it is ready to ship. Thanks.

Year of the Tiger

This cover begins a new series.

The Lunar New Year stamps have proven to be one of the most popular series of the past ten years. As collectors who are searching for some of my previous year sell-outs know, Collins cachets don't come on the open market too often. When they do, it is often at a steadily increasing premium over original selling price. My prediction is that this set which begins now with the striking "Year of the Tiger" cachet will become coveted within the hobby. Starting now, make sure that you obtain each of these individually watercolored animal portraits.

Two main components will combine to make this set a stand-out. First, my cachet approach will be to design an appealing close-up rendition of each featured animal. Make no mistake — you will love these dramatic up-close cachets. The second feature will be the large, written character that refers to the subject species — in this case the tiger. Each of these will be painted in a different vibrant color that will really add to the visual appeal from both an individual cover and set-as-a-whole basis.

As future covers are offered, each will be subject to a possible quick sell out. It would be advisable to order them quickly to avoid disappointment. This series of covers is destined to add to the reputation of Collins First Day Covers, and each will become actively sought-after items in the months and years ahead. They are truly great additions for your personal collection. 2006 Lunar New Year set — "Year of the Tiger." Collins #R4003 — $13.25.
