Winter 2023 Mail Sale

Lot 24 04202 — Liberty Bell — Subscriber-only Edition — 4/1207

Trying to be an innovative cachetmaker, I often add a little something special to my covers. In this case, each stamp booklet had a large rendition of the Liberty Bell, a bar code, the word "Forever," and the sales note "Twenty First Class Stamps." I thought it would look cool on this envelope, so I placed it at upper right, added one of the new stamps, and tied both to the cover with a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania first day bullseye. It looks very cool! The bell was commissioned in 1752. Most historians believe the bell was rung on July 8, 1776 at the first reading of the Declaration of Independence. This cachet was also chosen to honor Major General Nathaniel Greene. He served under George Washington for the duration of the Revolutionary War and emerged with the reputation as his most talented and dependable officer. His words ring with the American Spirit, "We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again." The Collins Liberty Bell "Subscriber-only Limited Edition" cover. First time in my mail sales. Let Freedom Ring.
