The carambola tree is native to India and Sri Lanka and now has become popular throughout Southeast Asia and Indonesia. Because the tropical fruit harvested from this tree is in the shape of a star when sliced, it has become an(çasily recognized favorite in many parts of the world. In the United States it is raised commercially in Florida and Hawaii.

My hand painted cachet captures the essence of India where the carambola tree originated. Also pictured is the fruit itself with cross sections and star-shaped slices. As with the other covers in this mini-set, the watercolored cachet turned out exceptionally nice.
