Popeye the Sailor Man is a fictional cartoon character who made his first appearance on January 17, 1928. The lovable sailor has muscular forearms with anchor tattoos and an ever-present corncob pipe. His adventures take him worldwide, and he is able to achieve superhuman strength by eating spinach.

For eighty years his sweetheart has been Olive Oyle. Olive often gets angry over trivial things and constantly gets kidnapped by Popeye's arch-enemy Bluto. In the end, the muscular sailor always rescues her for which she shows her affection for her hero.
