Abraham Lincoln - 16th President

Lincoln as a Lawyer

Collins Cover Announcement

Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial

Lawyer

A familiar sight around Springfield. Illinois in the 1830s and 1840s was a lanky attorney serving as a Circuit Court lawyer. Wearing a battered old top hat and wrapped in a shawl for warmth, Abraham Lincoln would ride his horse through winter snows and spring rains to bring legal representation to area residents. He practiced law in Springfield for about 25 years and eventually became a prominent attorney. By dealing with citizens from all levels of society, Lincoln developed a great concern for and a deep commitment to average citizens. He became a champion of the people.

My individually hand painted cachet shows the future president as a solitary rider braving the harsh winter as he heads to the next court on the circuit. It also has a fine portrait of the young attorney. I'm pleased to present Abraham Lincoln — lawyer. Collins #C4602 —$14.00.
