They join farmer MacDonald's work horse and dog as well as his milk cow and cat from the first two First Day Covers previously offered. Early feedback on this cachet concept for the weather vane stamps has been terrific, so make sure you obtain all five for your collection.

This individually hand painted cachet artistically captures a confident pig as it meanders along. From its long snout to its floppy ears to the tip of its curly tail, this is one endearing hog. White domestic ducks on a rural farm pond are always a welcome sight, and this foursome is no exception. In fact, if you put them together with the dairy cow, you'd have "milk and quackers." Sorry — couldn't resist.

As a country boy who grew up on a farm of sorts (mostly vegetables but always a good mix of animals), this set is definitely one I relate to. The duck weather vane stamp has the first day of issue postmark from Shelburne, Vermont — home of the five actual vanes. My trotting horse vignette adds just the right touch to this cover as it does to all in this mini-set of five.
