Hermey & Rudolph

Hermey & the Elves Cachet

Collins Cover Announcement

Rudolph

Santa's Elves

The television animated special of 1964 that aired on NBC drastically changed the original Rudolph storyline. In this movie, Rudolph's rejection by the other reindeer caused him to run away from home. He is accompanied by an outcast elf named Hermey who is shunned and ridiculed by his fellow elves because he wants to become a dentist. The new stamp shows both Rudolph and his elf friend Hermey.

My hand painted cachet shows Hermey flanked by two other elves. On his toy workbench there is a book on dentistry, a tooth brush, and dental tools. With their pointy ears and colorful outfits, these North Pole elves present a colorful and different Collins Christmas cover. In the story, Rudolph fights the Abominable Snow Monster. After the fight, Herrney extracts the monster's teeth and he becomes friendly to all. They all return home and the other deer apologize to Rudolph, and Hermey makes plans to open a dentist office a week after Christmas.

Whoever wrote the wild script for this retelling of the Rudolph tale certainly had a vivid and unusual imagination. The cachet for Rudolph's elf friend Hermey is now ready. Collins #C5402 at $15.00.
