Woolly Mammoth
An opportunity for some really great cachet subjects presented itself when the Postal Service issued five new fern stamps. They gave me the chance to produce cachet art for five dramatic prehistoric subjects, and I must say the resulting hand painted First Day Covers turned out to be spectacular.
The first being offered is the woolly mammoth. To achieve the maximum potential for visual impact, I chose to use the vertical option. With mountains as a backdrop, the giant elephant crosses a grassy field toward a bed of ferns which will provide a tasty meal. The massive, curved tusks are by design the dominating feature, but do note the realistic touches such as the tufted air on the head and coarse body hair that give the woolly mammoth its name.
The positive impact of this cachet is striking, and a quick sell-out is possible, as was the case with the recently announced "snowflake" cover. Be sure to order on a timely basis so you don't miss out.
Walking right toward you and now available is the individually hand painted woolly mammoth. Collins #G5302 at $15.00.
