Nevada Statehood - 150th Anniversary

150th Anniversary

Collins Cover Announcement

Nevada Statehood

This individually hand painted cachet is a beauty as it depicts an old prospector crossing a desert area with his burro. Supplies on the pack animal include a pan for searching riverbeds for gold, a canteen for his precious water, and a coffee pot for those solitary evening and morning campfires. In the distance, a low ridge of mountains loom as potential precious metal sites. The watercolors bring the scene to life, and I think you will really like this one.

The first Europeans to explore the region were the Spaniards by way of Mexico. It was populated by the Shoshone and Paiute tribes with the United States acquiring it as a territory in 1848 following its victory in the Mexican-American War. The discovery of silver in the Comstock Lode in 1859 led to a significant population increase, and it became the 36th state on October 31, 1864. This stamp and cachet celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Statehood.

I'm pleased to offer this hand painted First Day Cover as the old-timer treks across the Nevada territory with his lifetime dream to strike it rich. Collins #05301 at $15.00.
