Janis Joplin - Rock Singer

Collins Cover Announcement

Janis Joplin

This American singer and songwriter rose to fame in the late 1960s and quickly won widespread acclaim for her performing ability. At the height of her career, she was known as "the Queen of Psychedelic Soul" although her friends called her Pearl. Multi-talented, Janis was also a painter, dancer, and music arranger.

Joplin was ranked by Rolling Stone as the number 28th Greatest Singer of All Time. She was one of the major attractions at the Woodstock Festival and also, later, on the Festival Express Train Tour. Her hit song Me and Bobby McGee made it to number one on the charts, and she was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

During her college years, the campus newspaper did an article on her entitled "She Dares to be Different." For my individually hand painted cachets, I wanted to capture the essence of Janis as she appeared during her glory years. The portrait really depicts in fine detail the great entertainer, and the bold border as a backdrop projects her likeness in a just-right manner.

Now ready — the one-of-a-kind entertainer who dared to be different — Janis Joplin — Collins #U5301. $15.00.
