King Eider

Cover Announcement 

This individually hand painted cachet begins my mini-set of four depicting beautiful coastal birds. The first one is the King Eider which I consider one of the two most handsome (wood duck being the other) ducks found in America. The King Eider is a sea duck with the male having a gorgeous combinatiorn of colors. The head is a light blue with the cheek being a pastel green. The bill is an orange/red with all of these rainbow shades sitting atop a feathery black body with white and buff chest. Magnificent.

The King Eider is found along the coasts of Alaska, Canada, and the northeastem coast of America. It breeds on the Arctic coast of Alaska and other Arctic coastlines of the world. My hand painted cachet shows this lovely sea duck swimming in frigid Alaskan waters in an icy habitat landscape.
