Hindus, Jains, Sikhs Festival of Lights

Cover Announcement

Diwali is the Hindu festival of Lights celebrated every year in autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southem Hemisphere. It spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

During Diwali, people dress up in their best clothes, light lamps and candles inside and out, pray to the Goddess of Prosperity, enjoy feasts, and exchange gifts with family and close friends.

My indiridually hand painted cachet shows the iconic Taj Mahal which is a universally known site. On a personal note, I decided to dedicate this cover to Mahesh - a close personal friend and a long-time tennis partner. We have enjoyed many conversations and numerous shared matches on the court.

Diwali is one of the most popular festivals in Hinduism. The new stamp is tied to the envelope with a New York. NY first day of issue postmark. Collins #K5601 - at $15.00.
