This cachct variety is based on a 1936 film in which a baby is rescued from the sea by lighthouse keeper Captain January. Since both of the baby's parents perished, and with no way to locate any other family members, the keeper raises her at the light.

The movie was a musical comedy/drama directed by David Butler and was based on the story The Lighthouse at Cape Tempest by Laura Richards. My individually hand painted cachet shows Shirley at a ship's wheel being instructed by Captain January played by Guy Kibbee. It also shows the child actress in a sailor's uniform.
