Root Beer Float

Cover Announcement

The ice cream float was invented by Robert M. Green in Philadelphia in 1874. Evidently, Mr. Green was serving flavored cold drinks during a celebration at the Franklin Institute when he ran out of ice. It was a verv hot day, so he used vanilla ice cream rather than ice and thus invented a new drink - the float.

Root beer is the second oldest soft drink in the United States dating to 1876 when it was created by Charles Hires, also of Philadelphia. The root beer float quickly became a favorite drink of the American public. Today the A&W Restaurant chain in the United States and Canada has made it their signature drink. The Root beer float is now ready.
