California Dogface Butterfly

Zerene eurydice

Cover Announcement

Califomia was the very first state to designate a "State Insect," and in 1972 they chose the Califomia Dogface Butterfly. Its wings are black with an iridescent blue area, goldish-orange, and a light yellow. It is truly a beautiful species, and my individuaily hand painted cachet is prominently displayed in large, lifelike size. Awesome.

Its range is limited to California with a habitat in the Santa Ana Mountains in the southern portion of the state. They prefer to feed on nectar from purple flowers and often can be spotted on patches of roadside thistles.

The beauiful Caiilbmia Dogface Butterfly in natural watercolors is now-being offered. Collins K580i at $16.50.
