Post Office Murals

 Florence, CO

Antelope by Olive Rush

Cover Announcement

Considering the great cachet subjects in this group, it is one of my all-time favorite mini-sets. The cachet art includes Wildlife, Native Americans, Early Airmail, Southwest Desert at Twilight, and an American Bald Eagle on the summit of a mountain called Sugarloaf. The individually hand painted covers are really dynamic and will be among the finest in your collection.

A family of pronghorns graze peacefully on a western prairie. A fleet and elusive antelope-tike animal, they have beautiful markings and are a national wildlife treasure. The new stamp shows a herd approaching a remote waterhole.

As my collectors know, Americana is a mainstay of Collins cachets. The very talented and gifted artists of post office murals across the country about 85 years ago captured Americana at its best on these wall paintings. This set offers a hand painted cachet presentation based on these works of art from almost a century ago.

Recently, my Transcontinental Railroad Locomotive covers sold out very quickly. This Americana set of Postal Mural stamps will also, I think, be gone soon. They are, indeed, beautiful. Thanks.

Spring 2022 Mail Sale Commentary

Lot 31 O5801 and O5802 — Transcontinental Railroad — 150th Anniversary — Engine No. 60 — the Jupiter, Central Pacific Railroad and Engine No. 119, Union Pacific Railroad (5-10-19)

This two-cover lot features the two locomotives that met in Utah upon the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. They sold out very rapidly as I had warned was a possibility. As an added bonus, I will give the winner of this lot with my compliments the "Golden Spike" (Q5803 cachet variety). These historic railroad covers feature the Jupiter locomotive from the Central Pacific Railroad and Engine 119 from the Union Pacific Railroad. A great lot to acquire.
