Wood Duck

The magnificent Wood Duck has the most beautifrrl plumage of any North American waterfowl. The adult male, which is featured in this year's individually hand painted cachet, has multicolored iridescent feathers including gleen, blue, and purple. Bright red encircles the eyes, and the bill is a bright orange-red. Habitat includes small ponds and rivers near thickly wooded areas. Trees are needed for roosting and trunk cavities and holes for nesting. It is my favorite duck.
