Winter Scenes

Fred's Anecdotal Note

Blue Jay and Sampson

Eneounter at the Winter Pasture

A short distance from the big barn is the winter pasture that is dedicated to one animal only. On mild days Sampson, the impressive bull, is able to wander within its confines and enjoy some welcomed exercise. At this moment, the prized bull gazes quizzically at a chattering blue jay that has landed on the snow-dusted fence. Sampson's awesome size and stoic demeanor would cause most creatures cautious concern, but the jay knows it can take flight at any instant. The chance encounter is delightful as the small, beautiful bird contrasts so markedly with the massive, powerfiI bull as they share a common moment.
